Before and After

I signed up for a class early last fall to learn how to use Adobe Lightroom.  The class was offered by Kim Klassen and called Round Trip. Over a series of lessons Kim was going to take us through the steps from loading a photo into Lightroom and finishing it up in Photoshop. On and  off, mostly off I have been working through  the videos that Kim provides trying to learn how to use this amazing tool. Below is a sample of what I did today with a photo I took in France last month.
This is the photo I started with.
I then  corrected the vertical distortion, the colour and started to remove the couple under the arch.
I felt the windows were a bit bare, using Photoshop  I added flowers and finished removing the people.
Next step was to use a Photoshop action to create a HDR ( High-Dynamic-range imaging) look. I created the above page using Anna Aspnes paper and brushes.

Friday's Find

Kim Klassen hosts  Friday days find. It's a chance to post something special either it be a actual find or a thought with a photo. My "Fridays find" was a bouquet of Tombow markers.

I met a friend for lunch today near to Above Ground Art Supplies. I could not resist  going in just to look at the colours available. Weak women that I am when it comes to art supplies I came home with a dozen new markers!

Inside page

I had time to work on another page of the Embellishing Edges class today. With this page I used a combination of Copic markers & Tombow markers which worked very well. I'm still feeling my way in using these markers and learning what they can do.

Another Page

Another page was finished today for the Embellishing Edges class.
I used Tombow markers again to add colour. I found using the markers after watching a video on UTube easier to blend with. You can watch the video here. I am thinking I NEED more markers now that I have a better understanding of what they can do!

Journal Update

I have  continued to work over the last week on finishing the cover for the Embellishing Edges class.

To colour the pages I've been using Tombow markers. This is the first time I've worked with the markers and I'm impressed with what they can do. The markers are water based and can be used for lettering, colouring and  blending as well. . I only have a set of 9 basic colours,  by blending I was able to create more colours and by adding water I could  create shading.

This class  only covers edges and lettering and  I've enjoyed it but  would like  more detail and depth in learning how Valerie Sjodin creates her amazing journal pages. Valerie  tells me that she will be offering a class in the fall or early in the new year that that will do just that.

Watercolour paint

Cover

I've been working on completing the cover and pages for the Embellishing Edges class. It's been a real challenge teaching myself how to use watercolour paint. Being a bit of a perfectionist I'm not completely happy with the results I've had, but keep telling myself finished is better than perfect.
